Type Locality and Naming
Northernmost Taiwan. The type section is located at Yeliuzhen, 8 km to northwest of Jilong City, Taiwan Province. It was named and surveyed by He C. in 1975.
Lithology and Thickness
It is the first sediment cycle in Miocene in western Taiwan, characterized by the sandstone and shale intercalated with coal seam and volcanic rock. It consists of a lower Mushan Fm and an upper Daliao Fm. The thickness is 750-1250 m.
